What you’ll be doing
Accessibility practitioners at Nomensa work to a world class standard of web accessibility. As a Junior Accessibility Consultant here, no two days will be the same, but you’ll be learning from skilled practitioners and leaders in the field, as well as more widely from colleagues across all areas of the business.
Our clients are from a wide range of sectors, commercial, not for profit, and in partnership with government departments and the work we do supports many different types of user. This means:

- You could be performing assistive technology testing to support users with a range of vision, hearing or mobility impairment.
- You will also perform accessibility feedback on designs to provide solutions for accessibility issues, as well as writing and creating reports for clients in line with their requirements.

The work you will be doing will be rewarding and genuinely makes a difference to people - in some cases, helping them to access essential services that they might struggle to use without our work.
What we’re looking for
We want someone who is passionate about accessibility and making a difference.
- You’ll be doing auditing and writing reports to advise clients on how to make their websites and digital services more accessible to users so good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the talent to collaborate and work positively as part of team.
- You’re client focused, keen to get become more involved and connected to understand their needs so you can positively contribute to them developing an ‘accessibility first’ mindset. You like to analyse and have great attention to detail - small details in code can have a big impact
- A passion for front-end development or experience of coding would be very useful as you will be be looking at code to understand how sites have been built, and how this may have impacted on the accessibility and beyond.
- An understanding of HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA and JavaScript would be helpful, although not essential. An understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA, automated testing tools and assistive technologies including screen readers, speech recognition and magnification software would also be beneficial, although not essential as these can all be learnt
- We believe there isn’t a set skillset to be a successful Junior Accessibility Consultant. You may have a computer science or software engineering degree, or have gone through development boot camp. Or you may be deeply passionate about accessibility and web technologies and have developed your skills through experience. Or you might be a mix of all of this Your overall attitude, skills and ex
