**Job Purpose**
To play a key role in the operational delivery of physical activity programmes, classes and events that positively embed University of Glasgow (UofG) Sport as a core part of Staff and Students Mental Health and Wellbeing.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Create, develop and implement an integrated series of activities, classes and events which promote and improve UofG Staff’s wellbeing with the overall key aim to improve physical activity participation levels.
2. Develop and deliver UofG activity programme initiatives such as Learn 2 Train, Desk to 3k, Get Back to Fitness which aim to improve activity levels of UofG staff, thus improving wellbeing across the University campuses.
3. Provide an integrated service provision through implementing and developing a Student Mental Health Referral programme in conjunction with UofG Sport, Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA) Counselling and Psychology Services (CAPS).
4. Support the partnership between University of Glasgow Sport and Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA) through working with the GUSA President and GUSA Welfare convenor to deliver a series of student welfare events. Provide guidance and support to GUSA welfare convenor by regularly meeting and discussing events supporting different campaigns.
5. Support and promote the running of Gym Buddies, work with GUSA Welfare Convenor to design and promote events around Exam Destress and Fresher’s Week Campaigns. Proactively engage and communicate with UofG Staff and Students through presentations and outreach events which develop and improve physical health and mental wellbeing.
6. Monitor, review and evaluate quality of service and customer satisfaction within work area. Discussing findings and suggesting recommendation for improvements with UofG Sport, CAPS and GUSA as appropriate.
7. Support Active Lifestyle colleagues by contributing towards the evaluation of the service programme to ensure it meets and the needs of its wide customer base and aligns with the UofG Sport strategy.
8. As directed by the Active Lifestyle Manager support designated aspects of the UofG Sport service programme, this includes timetabling and other designated areas of responsibility within the Active Lifestyle and sport areas.
9. Play a role in being the promotional interface for UofG Sport and GUSA internally and externally to the University. This includes being involved in Open Days, Fresher’s week other promotional events.
10. Ensure personal teaching standards and knowledge of new developments is kept up-to-date. This includes a commitment to maintaining high standards of delivery and a high level of continuing professional development.
As directed by the Active Lifestyles Manager, establish, maintain and develop links with key internal and external departments and organisations that will allow added value and quality to the UofG Sport service provision and programme. These include, but are not limited to, Sport Health and Exercise Science related departments, various University faculties, Corporate Communications, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Scottish Student Sport (SSS) and SportScoltand.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework Level 7 (Higher, VQ3, HNC) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role. Or, ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar related role(s).
A2 Level 3 GP Exercise Referral Qualification and strong portfolio of recognised qualifications in active lifestyle related areas. Examples of qualifications and awards include Certificate in Personal Training, Yoga, Pilates Exercise to Music Level 2/Group Exercise, Gym Instructor Level 2.
A3 Demonstrable evidence of commitment to continued professional development and extending range of knowledge and qualifications in the area of sport and exercise.
A5 Current First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid Qualification.

**Desirable**:

B1 Level 4 Mental Health and Physical Activity Qualification.
B2 Level 2 Mental Health Awareness Certificate.
B3 Mental Health First Aid.
B4 Good awareness of the UofG Sport programme and services offered, particularly in the Active Lifestyle area.
B5 Understanding of University Structure.
