The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. **Working with DWP, you will be helping us to drive our priorities to**:

- Run an effective welfare system that enables people to achieve financial independence by providing assistance and guidance into employment
- Increase saving for, and security in later life
- Create a fair and affordable welfare system which improves the life chances of children
- Deliver outstanding services to our customers and claimants
- Deliver efficiently: transform the way we deliver our services to reduce costs and increase productivity

**As a Content Designer your main responsibilities will be**:

- Create new content and iteratively improve existing content across digital and non-digital channels to meet user needs and business objectives.
- Design clear, joined-up user journeys.
- Evaluate current content strategies based on the results of user research and data.
- Use style guides and other standards, along with exemplary spelling and grammar, to create high quality content.
- Take part in user research and be able to work with multidisciplinary teams, including interaction designers and developers, to create clear and relevant content.
- Build relationships and work closely with policy, legal and other expert colleagues to make sure content is accurate and consistent.
- Promote user-centred content design within the department and beyond.
- Help to keep up a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Be an active member of the content design community, contributing to knowledge of best practices.

Contribute to building an inclusive digital culture within the department.

**You’ll have relevant experience in**:

- Have experience of working at pace in an agile environment and from a digital perspective.
- Have exemplary spelling and grammar and experience of writing and editing using a style guide and plain English.
- Be able to take a user-centred approach to content design and explain design decisions in a way that other people understand.
- Be able to put forward the case for content design to senior stakeholders and product managers.
- Know how to plan user research and have experience of using data and user research to inform content decisions.
- Be able to handle constructive criticism of your work and to constructively review other people’s work.
