- Job description**Inquiry Progression Officer**

**Those currently eligible on the redeployment register will be given prior consideration.**

The main purpose of the role is to provide a high quality case progression in order to pursue the detection, processing and disposal of difficult speeding cases.

To maximise successful disposals, completion of speed awareness courses, conditional offers, and where necessary, cases requiring a Court outcome.

To identify and pass on intelligence and information likely to be of value for broader policing matters.

**Main Responsibilities**:
To proactively investigate and progress cases that are referred from WRSU where difficulties have arisen in driver identification, where repeated offences are being received or for cases where the registered keeper has not responded.

To provide advice either face to face in the form of an interview or over the telephone to members of the public, police staff and police officers on the relevant legislation.

To input, interrogate and utilise IT and intelligence systems, such as EROS2, Pentip, GENIE, Experian and PNC in accordance with Force and national policy/procedure and Data Protection legislation for desk top enquiry process.

To visit address of registered keeper in order to deliver papers or take statements. Serving notice of intending prosecution providing explanation and advice on the process.

To investigate more serious offences that may not be suitable for disposal under fixed penalty arrangements or speed awareness courses. In some cases, to refer these for action by a Police Officer.

To prepare statements and other evidential material to assist with file building.

To view recorded evidence in cases to ensure evidential content.

To attend court if required to give evidence relating to cases that have been under investigation.

To routinely interrogate the holding bay area to assess outstanding offences and determine if no further action, further enquiries or the development of a court file is required.

To respond to e
- mails from the public and partners within the Camera Enforcement Unit in a timely manner.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

**Knowledge**:
Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent (including English and Mathematics).

Knowledge of roads policing issues and criminal justice system.

**Experience**:
Experience of working within a team.

Experience of working under pressure and with tight deadlines.

Experience of dealing with conflict and confrontational situations.

**Key Skills**:
Ability to manage heavy workloads and prioritise work.

Ability to work under mínimal supervision.

Competent in the use of IT packages and ability to be able to learn new systems and understand technical issues.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
