**Planning Policy Officer**

**Essential Functions and Responsibilities**:
**Planning Monitoring and Reporting**:

- Conduct monitoring functions for the Planning Service.
- Produce reports, including the Authority Monitoring Report, Annual Infrastructure Funding Statement, and five-year housing land supply statement regularly.

**Research and Analysis**:

- Undertake research related to planning policy.
- Provide relevant information to customers through research and analysis.
- **Policy Development**:

- Assist in the preparation of local development plan policy and supplementary planning documents.
- Draft policies efficiently and effectively.
- Produce evidence to support planning policy formation.

**Knowledge Management**:

- Stay up-to-date with national and local planning legislation, policy, and guidance.
- Provide policy advice and information to site promoters, developers, and the public.

**Consultation and Communication**:

- Analyze responses to planning policy consultations.
- Manage and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Keep records systematically to set targets and monitor achievements.

**Stakeholder Engagement**:

- Conduct site visits and attend meetings related to planning policy and future development.
- Provide comprehensive planning policy advice to various stakeholders.

**Leadership and Support**:

- Provide guidance and support for communities considering or preparing neighborhood plans.
- Provide guidance to junior team members.

**GIS Mapping**:

- Use GIS system to create policies maps supporting development plan documents.

**Other Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Website Liaison**:

- Liaise with IT and Communications for improvements to the website.

**Publicity and Public Participation**:

- Prepare and organize publicity, public participation, exhibitions, and display projects.
- Maintain consultation databases.

**Inquiries and Examinations**:

- Prepare evidence for and appear at public inquiries or examinations related to planning policy issues.

**Legal Compliance**:

- Ensure compliance with statutory and legal obligations in policy planning.
- Manage appointed consultants and ensure satisfactory outcomes.

**Presentations and Communication**:

- Carry out confident and effective presentations to various audiences.

**Health and Safety**:

- Be aware of Health and Safety legislation and ensure compliance.

**Other Duties**:

- Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the manager.

**Responsibility for Assets and Data**:

- Handling data as required by the Data Protection Act 2018.

**Working Conditions and Environment**:

- Hybrid working available as per agile working policy.
- Travel across the Borough for site visits and meetings.
- Occasional attendance at meetings or events outside normal working hours.

**Corporate Responsibilities**:

- Adherence to the rules, Employment Policies, Constitution, and Code of Conduct.
- Compliance with rules related to financial accounting, equality and diversity, health and safety, risk management, anti-fraud, data quality and data protection, business continuity, major emergency plan, procurement and contract management, and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: £17.29-£22.87 per hour

Expected hours: 37 per week
