**Therapeutic Outreach Worker - Fixed Term Contract**

**Base Location**:Chester

**Salary**:£21,000 prorated

**Hours**:17.5 hours per week

**Working Pattern**:Monday & Wednesday 10am - 6pm. Tuesday 9.30am - 1pm

**Benefit**:30 days' Annual Leave (rising to 35 days' with length of service) + Bank Holidays, Pension Scheme, Life Assurance & Employee Discount Scheme **(all benefits will be prorated)**

Our multi-disciplinary social workers, support workers, therapists and teachers use both therapeutic and evidence based approaches in their work.

Our services for children, young people and families are designed to deliver positive outcomes using evidence based models and the latest research.

**What we are looking for**

Polaris Children's Services are looking for a Therapeutic Outreach Worker who can provide a comprehensive and flexible range of support, advice, and activities to young people with refugee status.

The post holder must hold a full UK driving licence and have full access to their own car. The role requires the post holder to be prepared to travel to the young people either in their temporary or permanent residence. They will also be a requirement to attend education settings as well.

**Role responsibilities**:

- Support young people who have refugee status
- Provide transport and or escort young people where necessary and appropriate
- Act as an appropriate adult as necessary.
- Respond to and work to prevent Child Sexual Exploitation and Sexually Harmful/Inappropriate Behaviours (SH/IB).
- Conduct initial assessments and liaise with key stakeholders including health (including mental health services such as CAMHS, school, Local Authority and community organisations).

Engage young people to empower them to take control of their own programme using a variety of methods including:
**Creative CBT games using interests of the child to support motivation.**

**Gathering of feedback using age-appropriate tools.**

**Providingwritten and verbal reports to share progress.**

**Essential Criteria**:

- Ability to deliver workshops and group sessions
- Ability to work as part of a multi-agency team and provide appropriate advice and guidance to support decision making
- Experience in working with Children and young people who have experienced Trauma, ideally working specifically with young people with refugee status
- Confidence in working on building a young person’s resilience
- Experience of case management and providing advice and support
- Sound working knowledge of attachment theory
- A preliminary knowledge of child protection procedures
