**Role: Domestic Violence Protection Order Officer**

**Location: Maltby Police Station, Rotherham**

**Salary: £24,552 - £26,958**

**Hours**:37hrs (Monday to Friday, plus 1 Saturday every 4 weeks)**

**Contract Type: Permanent (various roles available)**

**Role Purpose**:
Working hours: Please note the requirement for this role to work one Saturday every 4 weeks, with Wednesday of that week being allocated as a rest day. There is also a requirement to work Bank Holidays on a rota. Flexibility is also required around working hours, Court proceedings can often be delayed and over run at short notice, resulting in delayed finishing times for DVPO Officers.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To attend Magistrates Courts to present cases in both contested and uncontested hearings, deal with legal argument, cross examine witnesses and liaise with attendees at court to discuss hearing issues
- To check and prepare all domestic violence protection notices cases to ensure that they are suitable for presentation at Magistrates Courts
- To advise and support operational officers on domestic violence protection notices and orders by maintaining up to date knowledge of legislation
- To deal with correspondence from the public, solicitors and partner agencies ensuring that necessary action is initiated
- To liaise with other agencies involved in safeguarding in order to promote a close working relationship to support the victims of domestic abuse
- To engage with victims and effectively monitor the granted orders and action alleged breaches in accordance with relevant policy.
- To maintain relevant case management systems/databases to ensure they are accurate and up to date, to include all appropriate actions and decisions.
- To operate appropriate SYP and external computer systems to research, gather evidence and maintain recordsTo maintain relevant case management systems/databases to ensure they are accurate and up to date, to include all appropriate actions and decisions.

**Skills and experience**:

- Have excellent problem solving, communication and decision-making skills
- Experience of interrogating/maintaining and retrieving data/information using various computer and manual recording packages.
- Hold a full manual driving licence
- Must be prepared to travel to other locations within South Yorkshire
- Able to undertake the appropriate legal training
- Be able to prioritise and plan work

Please note full DVPO advocacy legal training will be provided on site.
