The Lead FTSU Guardian will work closely with and manage the Trust Guardians and the network of Speak Up Advocates, ensuring that they are receiving the right levels of support, giving the right advice and have an ability to escalate issues they do not feel equipped to resolve.
- Develop the Trust’s freedom to speak up (FTSU) vision and strategy
- Oversee the development and delivery of communication and engagement programmes to increase visibility of the Freedom to Speak Up amongst all staff.
- Ensure that all staff are aware of, and have access to support to help them speak up
- Manage the Speak Up Guardians within the central team and those in similar roles within clinical groups and corporate services
- Develop and grow the Speak Up Advocate group across the Trust, working with other leaders with a champions network of volunteers to maximise the impact of advocacy across the Trust
- Lead the monitoring and handling of FTSU cases and responsible for record management according to National Guardian Office Guidance (NGO) and complete the National Guardian Office quarterly return
- Support and contribute to NGO activities and training, actively supporting fellow Freedom to Speak Up Guardians, developing personal networks and peer-to-peer relationships, contributing to wider networking events, and sharing and learning from best practiceWe are one of the UK's leading providers of hospital and community-based healthcare, research and education. - Lead the local FTSU processes and sources of support and guidance, demonstrate the impact that speaking up is having in the organisation, and celebrate speaking up
- Operate independently, impartially and objectively, whilst working in partnership with individuals and groups through the Trust, including senior leadership team
- Establish and develop the office of the speak up team to ensure that cases are appropriately recorded and acted upon within a timely fashion and that accurate and regular reports are available to the executive and the non-executive lead.
- Implementation of the trust wide strategic vision and long-term action plan for FTSU across the Trust
- Responsible for Trust’s FTSU systems that comply with national guidance including outcome of investigations conducted
- Ensure that all staff have the relevant skills and knowledge to enable them to speak up effectively, and those supporting, managing or investigating speaking up issues have the capability and knowledge to do this effectively.
- Manage the Speak Up budget within financial limits and maximise opportunities for additional revenue from external sources to enhance the service offered across the Trust
