**Job summary**:
29 Squadron’s Mission is to Deliver RAF Combat Air Power and train all Typhoon multi-role pilots and engineers, capable of operating the aircraft in all combat environments.

The Squadron also provides: Capability and support to Typhoon operations worldwide;
Quick Reaction Alert (QRA), aircraft and crews at a high state of readiness 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in defence of UK airspace; International Defence Training; and the RAF Typhoon Display Team.

As the largest Typhoon Squadron on the force, our primary routine activity comprises Operational training sorties for Typhoon trainee aircrew and staff pilots. This is underpinned by an enabling maintenance regime, encompassing both corrective and preventative maintenance activities. To support this, the 29 Squadron Tool Stores or ‘Issuing Centre’ functions as the centralised secure hold for all maintenance tools, from Test and Measuring Equipment to on aircraft handheld tools. It is the first level within an effective tool control system and is essential to ensuring legal compliance with orders and the Quality Management System of the organisation.

Within the Issuing Centre, the 29 Squadron Civilian Senior Storekeeper will be employed as a permanent point of contact for all air safety critical procedures for the distribution, control and upkeep of tools required to maintain our aircraft. They will serve as the continuity and will be supported by an AS1 on a rotational basis as Tool Issue Centre Staff.

**Job description**:
The Civilian Senior Storekeeper will be responsible to the 29 Squadron Senior Engineering Officer, through the shift Junior Engineering Officer, to carry out the following tasks in accordance with Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Policy:

- Responsible for the daily operation of the Issuing Centre, including controlling the issue/return of all tools and equipment as well as their maintenance.
- Providing oversight for equipment inventories and the maintenance of Main Operating Base and deployable hand tools, toolkits and tool tally boards held within 29 Squadron’s Tool Issue Centre.
- Management of Test and Measuring Equipment including the assurance of regular mandated servicing schedules.
- Engagement with third party contractors to facilitate the management and control of tools within their area of responsibility.
- Carrying out regular checks of all tools and equipment to ensure that all items are serviceable and complete.
- Prompt reporting of any suspect missing tools, parts thereof, or Test and Measuring Equipment to the shift engineering Rectification Controller.
- Responsible for the Duty Aviator during their rotation as Tool Issue Centre Staff, ensuring that they have read and signed their orders during handover/takeover.

- Previous experience within the Defence Air Environment and knowledge of MAA engineering practices.
- Previous experience with the distribution and control of aircraft tools as well as their maintenance.
