Liverpool Zero waste CIC supports people in the community by providing food, we work with fare share and food is collected each day from stores such as Tesco, booker by our volunteers, we offer mixed bags of fresh food to families, our venues are across the Liverpool city region and take place 7 days a week. we save food from landfill and build community, LZW has recently registered as a CIC and are looking to recruit board members, the role is voluntary plus expenses. we are looking for people with a wide range of skills, such as finance, HR, funding etc, as a board member you will be supported by the chair and be responsible for reviewing the changes and making adjustments that are in the best interests of the organisation and in line with LZW CIC Ethos. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an new organisation and support its development and progress

Board members will be supported by the chair and be responsible for,

Establishing the organisations vision, mission and purpose

The board will be responsible for writing LZW CIC mission statement, LZW CIC vision will take priory in strategic planning to ensure it continually aligns with our vision.

Monitoring and evaluating the Directors

The board will be responsible for completion of the Directors job description. The board will consider the organisation’s needs, strengths, and weaknesses and outline the expectations of the Directors

Provide financial oversight

The board will work together to establish a budget and ensure that there are proper internal controls in place for incoming and outgoing funds.

Ensure the organisation has adequate resources

The board will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation has adequate resources to meet its obligations and fulfil its mission. Carefully allocating money and resources for the benefit of the organisation and its stakeholders.

Create a strategic plan and monitor the plan to ensure it is followed

The board will set goals and objectives to ensure the organisation’s goals and needs are met in the short and long-term. The board will be supported to monitor progress based on reports received from the Directors.

Ensure legal and ethical integrity

The Board have a duty to ensure that the organisation is in full compliance with its legal obligations. The board will ensure Legal compliance by setting up policies to establish acceptable behaviour such as the Whistle-blowing policy, Code of Conduct, and Code of Ethics policies

Managing resources

The boards will protect the organisation’s assets and manage them responsibly.

Recruit new board members as needed

The board will be responsible for recruiting, nominating and appointing new board members who have the right mix of skills and abilities to help the organisation fulfil its mission

Enhance LZW CIC Public standing

The board will be the link between the organisation and its stakeholders.

Strengthen LZW CIC services

The boards will make decisions about the current and proposed services continue to align with the organisation’s mission and purpose.
