**Doctors Direct** have an exciting opportunity for a **Consultant** to work with us in **Harlow Essex**, in **Geriatrics.**

We are looking for a doctor dedicated to, and passionate about, improving health and wellbeing within the Harlow, Essex community.

This Role is an ongoing fulltime placement opportunity within the fast paced care of the Gastroenterology department. This role would be predominantly based in Harlow, Essex area with the opportunity to work extra shifts across the Trusts’ other sites and any of our partner Trusts.

**Your key responsibilities will be to**:

- Provide comprehensive medical care to older adults with complex health needs, including the diagnosis, assessment, and management of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments, which may include evaluations of functional status, cognitive function, medication review, nutritional status, and social support systems.
- Develop individualized care plans tailored to the unique needs and preferences of older patients, focusing on optimizing function, managing symptoms, and improving quality of life.
- Provide expert consultation and management for older patients admitted to acute care hospitals or subacute rehabilitation facilities, with a focus on optimizing transitions of care, preventing hospital-acquired complications, and facilitating safe discharge planning.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and mental health professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans, optimize psychotropic medication use, and provide supportive interventions for older patients and their families.

- **Shift pattern**: 9:00-17:00 or 8:00-16:00
- **Hours per week**: 40-50 hours available per week
- **Start date**:on going - no end date yet
- **Rate of pay**:£92.50-£96 per hour (depending on experience)
- **Payment method: PAYE **we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies
- Valid GMC
- Right to work in the UK
- Clinical attachment complete and minimum of 3 months paid experience in the NHS/UK

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop’s Stortford, and St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
