Job title**:Credit Controller/Accounts Assistant**

Job purpose: To prepare invoices and minimise the level of outstanding balances.

Reporting to: Financial Controller

Hours: Full time (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday). This role is all year round, during both school terms and school holidays. Annual leave (25 days a year plus bank holidays) should be booked during the school holiday periods, where possible

Term: Permanent

**Salary**: circa £35,000 depending on skills and experience

**Role summary**

To co-ordinate and prepare the termly school fee invoices. To reconcile payments to customer accounts, while reducing the debtors balance. To prepare invoices for other streams of income and to manage the petty cash and credit cards.

**Job specification**
- Primary duties and responsibilities_
- Preparing the termly fee invoices by collaborating with other department to obtain the relevant invoice information.
- Working with customers to reduce any outstanding balances.
- Regular reviews with the Financial Controller on outstanding levels of debt.
- Responding to customers queries in a prompt and professional manner.
- Preparing monthly and termly Direct Debit schedules.
- Maintaining customer records on the MIS system.
- Other key duties and responsibilities_
- Managing the petty cash and school credit cards.
- Reconciling of accounts including the charity fundraising account, the PTA purchases account, bank reconciliations and other customer sales accounts.
- Supporting the Financial Controller in authorising invoices and payments.
- Collaborating with the Marketing Team improve the financial registration process, while reconciling deposits and registration fees.
- Ensuring that a positive impression of the School is given to pupils, parents, visitors and colleagues at all times.
- Establishing and maintaining efficient and effective working relationships with the wider community of the School.
- Supporting the work of Finance and delivering its strategic outcomes.

- Playing a full part in the life of the school community, supporting its mission, ethos and policies.
- Upholding the staff code of conduct at all times.
- Actively engaging in safeguarding practice and health and safety awareness around the school sites.
- Committing to personal professional development, including active engagement in staff training and the performance review process.
- Complying with relevant school policies and procedures at all times.

**Person specification**

**Qualifications**:

- Whilst an accounting/finance qualification is not required, any start on a qualification would be advantageous.
- Strong educational background, ideally with a minimum of A level standard

Knowledge
- Evidence of appropriate continued personal and professional development
- Knowledge of a Finance department and the role of Credit Control.

Experience
- Whilst you are not required to have previous schools experience, previous Credit Control experience in any field is required.
- Two years’ experience of delivering in a Credit Control role.
- Experience of raising standards within Credit Control.

Competencies
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively to a range of audiences
- Ability to build effective relationships with pupils, parents and staff
- Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise, manage time effectively and meet challenging goals
- Ability to work effectively as a proactive member of a team, as well as managing a personal workload
- Excellent computer skills using MS Office, with an intermediate level in Word and Excel
