Children's Therapeutic Support Worker

Based close to South Molton & Westleigh, Devon, are two residential services supporting children with Social and Emotional Mental Health. We are looking for a Therapeutic support worker who can think outside the box and is passionate about the care they provide to act as a positive role model for children.
Your role as a Children's Therapeutic Support Worker will be to be a role model and advocate for the children. Our approach is always positive with regards to previous experiences providing the young people with strategies to help them in the future. We aim to support the children to become part of the local community through the use of a whole host of fun activities and will provide staff with a range of sporting and activity qualifications such as Surfing, Kayaking and Climbing so they can be part of this journey.
Our homes will only support between 1 and 3 children between the ages of between the ages of 8-18 years old.
**Salary -** £26,500 - £30,500 depending on experience and qualifications
**Rota - **2 on 4 off

**Your Responsibilities as a Children's Therapeutic Support Worker**:
- To act as a positive role model for both children and other staff
- Support in a structure rich environment, being consistent and nurturing
- To liaise with parents, teachers, social workers, Therapists etc
- Assisting the children to gain independence
- Mentoring and educating the children and young people we support
- Supporting day-to-day activities to help build their social and emotional skills
- Managing and understanding behaviours of concern and the reasons for them
- Awareness of safeguarding
- To assist young people with anything involved in their day to day lives
- Creating a therapeutic and healthy care environment
- Positive engagement is key to encourage the children and young people's development
- Well written and comprehensive record keeping is vital
**Requirements for the role of a Children's Therapeutic Support Worker**:
- Must be a driver with a full UK driving licence
- Ideally have 1 year residential experience working with children with EBD or similar
- Hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Flexibility to work to a rota pattern with Sleep In’s required (2 on 4 off)
- Excellent understanding of Safeguarding
