Wychem, an Ascensus Specialties Company, is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Lead. The Quality Control (QC) Lead is a vital position within the company's operations team, overseen by the Director of Operations. The individual in this role will collaborate closely with and report directly to the QHSE Manager. They will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Quality Control (QC) department and will play a crucial role in the company's quality control process and systems. It is expected that anyone filling this role will perform chemical analysis to ensure compliance with both client and company specifications. They will utilize a range of techniques such as GC, HPLC, KF, FTIR, and titrations to support production operations. Furthermore, the Quality Control Lead will actively support research projects and contribute to the company's growth initiatives.Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the QC Laboratory and ensuring a safe and compliant work environment, including providing necessary support to management in promoting a safe and healthy workplace.
- Undertaking documentation, maintenance, and QC tasks as required, including updating or creating new analytical methods and specifications.
- Planning the workday based on production schedules and priorities to ensure timely completion of work.
- Preparing and reviewing QC results for internal and release testing.
- Reviewing and approving processes using Rubicon.
- Engaging with management, employees, contractors, and clients to provide solutions to problems.
- Troubleshooting issues in QC, R&D, production, and QC equipment, and engaging with relevant parties for resolution.
- Maintaining a positive and helpful attitude in stressful situations.
- Seeking support and assistance when needed.
- Supporting other departments to meet work priorities and client expectations.
- Supporting Research and Development departments in process development.
- Providing professional, open, and helpful assistance regarding test results, methods, and instrumentation operation.
- Ensuring proper training and understanding of job roles for QC Analysts.
- Conducting analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and final products using various analytical instruments.
- Recording and maintaining results in the company's ERP system and record database.
- Reviewing, checking, and authorizing technical documentation, SOPs, WIs, and policies.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency in QC and other processes and implementing agreed-upon changes.
- Managing internal and external providers for servicing, maintenance, and calibration of critical equipment.
- Participating in internal and external audits as required.
- Maintaining stock levels in the QC lab to support operations.
- Adapting to changing priorities and adjusting the planned work accordingly.
- Whilst not normally required, there may be times when management request you work additional hours.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field. (Note: 2-3 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.)
- Basic understanding of organic chemistry desired.
- Experience in manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of written and spoken English.
- Proficient working knowledge of Office 365, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with the hazards associated with working with potentially hazardous chemicals and materials.**Competencies**

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Possess a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field. (Note: 3-5 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.)
- Previous experience working within the QC department of a fine chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturer.
- 3-5 years of industrial experience in fine chemical or pharmaceutical manufacture.
- Proven track record of problem-solving and troubleshooting within a lab-based environment.
- Understanding of QC quality systems.
