Clinical Service Lead is an established key role within the Community Integrated Therapies service which includes rehabilitation inpatient wards and community rehabilitation teams across East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen. The service is a large inpatient and community rehabilitation service with over 120 staff. You will be a member of the Community Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy senior leadership team working with the Operational Service Lead and the Head of Service. You will have proven clinical knowledge of community rehabilitation and service development as an Occupational therapist or Physiotherapist. You will lead on clinical quality and evidence based practice ensuring the service we provide is safe personal and effective. The service works closely with our colleagues and is a valued and respected member within the MDT, primary care and wider community services within Pennine.

Provide overarching clinical leadership to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams working within Integrated Therapy service including practical guidance, support and senior review.

Ensure the therapy services provided to the specified division are consistently delivered to a high standard, are safe, effective and evidence based.

Support teams to be innovative and develop the services using Quality Improvement and Practice Improvement methodologies.

Ensure our staff are highly trained, supported and motivated to deliver the best care and treatment for patients.

Provides wider Therapy Directorate clinical leadership to Divisional and Directorate service improvement and change programmes.

Ensures that the wider therapy services within the directorate including Orthotics, SLT and Dietetics receive feedback and are appropriately engaged in clinical developments within the respective Division.

Takes the lead role for implementation and embedding of quality initiatives and changes to clinical practice across the service area.

Advises and supports the respective Divisional and Directorate Senior leadership teams and matrons.

Ensure the development of all Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff within the service.

Work in partnership with peers aligned with the other Divisions, to ensure the development of integrated and seamless Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy clinical pathways.

Lead on Clinical Quality and Governance within the service.

Established in 2003 East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) is a large integrated health care organisation providing high quality acute secondary healthcare for the people of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen.

As part of the integrated Therapy team you will be based at Pendle Community Hospital but attend all sites where our teams are based including Burnley General Hospital, Clitheroe Community Hospital and a range of community sites across East Lancashire. The team consists of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists and therapy and administrative assistants including Assistant Practitioners and an ACP. The Service is proactive in developing to meet the needs of our local population through clinically effective evidence based care and a wide range of training and development opportunities for all staff to fulfil their role.
CLINICAL LEADERSHIP

Provide clinical leadership and mentorship in the assessment and treatment of all patients across the Clinical Service

Maintain and develop clinical, professional knowledge and skills and to lead in the extension of existing Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy practice.

Lead in the development, implementation and monitoring of evidence based protocols and patient pathways with outcome measures which clearly demonstrate robust outcomes for patients in East Lancashire.

Take a lead role in the local implementation of the relevant Clinical Governance guidelines in relation to Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Services.

Influence and promote innovative models of practice, building on existing service models and utilising Trust practice improvement methodology where appropriate.

Take a lead role in the development of clinical pathways within the area of clinical expertise and oversee the implementation and evaluation of changes in clinical practice.

Ensure there is appropriate specialist advice, teaching mentorship and instruction on the Therapy management of complex conditions relevant within the clinical services.

Take the lead in education, mentoring and support of all integrated Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy staff. Be responsible for the induction training of all new therapy staff including rotational staff.

Provide In-Service Training to Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff based on latest clinical evidence.
