**Job Title - Maintenance Assistant**

**Location - St Helens, England**

**Contract - 3-6 month contract**

**Hours - 37.5 hours per week**

**Pay rate - £13.20 per hour**

**We at Vox Consultants are recruiting for a client based in the St Helens area.**

**About the role**:
To assist skilled maintenance craftsmen of all trades in the installation, repair, service and general maintenance of building and engineering services and equipment within the Trust. To undertake cleaning and general preventative maintenance of ventilation and lighting equipment, and sewerage and drainage systems within the Trust.

**Key responsibilities**
- To support skilled maintenance craftsmen of all trade groups and to assist as directed to repair, service and maintain mechanical, electrical, and building systems, plant, and equipment.
- To maintain and service rainwater systems including gulley and gutter cleaning and cleaning of road gulleys.
- To maintain and service foul sewage systems and equipment including unblocking toilets and clearing of drains using rodding equipment.
- To carry out routine maintenance of drainage systems including manhole maintenance and cleaning of sewage screens.
- To undertake moderate digging of holes and trenches by hand.
- Minor building fabric repairs including re-benching of manholes.
- Cleaning of light fittings and servicing and cleaning of extract fans and other ventilation equipment.
- Changing starters, light bulbs, lamps, and tubes in a variety of different lighting fittings and to undertake other minor electrical maintenance tasks.
- To undertake lifting and handling operations as required including loading and unloading of vehicles and accepting stores deliveries.
- General cleaning of the workshops messroom and toilet areas.
- To carry out planned preventative maintenance work and to be responsible for recording information and reporting defects on the appropriate forms or log sheets, including reading and recording of gas, electricity, or water meter consumptions.
- To be prepared to work in hazardous areas and confined spaces, taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to persons or equipment.
- To be able to work on ladders or platforms and to work in inclement weather using the protective equipment provided.
- To actively participate in the running of Estates Management systems by completing all job dockets, timescales, wait/divert cards and defect or other reports as required by the Estates Manager

- The post holder should be able to work on ladders or scaffolds, lift installations, confined roof spaces and service ducts, including moving heavy equipment, lifting manhole covers, digging trenches for laying cables/pipes.
- Required to be fit to work with sewerage and sewage treatment areas.
- Experienced in the use of hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and spanners.

**Salary**: £13.20 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
