Acts autonomously to organise and provide a service to paediatric patients with complex feeding requirements, including those receiving enteral feeding in the community setting This will involve: - Demonstrating highly specialist knowledge in the area of Paediatric Dietetics, underpinned by current evidence based practice. Gaining valid consent for treatment, ensuring this is within the legal framework for obtaining consent. Assessing, treating and monitoring nutritional status and growth using dietetic assessment, anthropometry, interpretation of biochemical data, drug treatments and social circumstances. Making highly specialist clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases by calculating and interpreting nutritional requirements and advising on the most appropriate and safe method of nutrition support.

Providing nutritional expertise as part of multidisciplinary feeding teams and working across the Care Groups of the Trust to ensure consistent and co-ordinated dietary therapy. Assessing suitability of feed regimen (feed type and method of administration) and changing these as appropriate, allowing for preferences, convenience and social circumstances of patients/careers and their ability to understand and implement complex information and instructions.
