The Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) network stretches across the UK. We work alongside our partners to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.

Our Business Services department supports the delivery of CT policing across the wider West Midlands region through our People, Places and Finance teams.

As our Workplace Services Lead, you’ll be working at the heart of the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit managing administrative support across a range of services including facilities management, corporate travel, fleet management, business continuity, health and safety, and meeting and conference services. You’ll be supported by approximately 15 team members, including technical staff, to ensure the Places Team deliver an efficient and effective service.

You’ll be based at our modern offices near to Birmingham Airport, but you’ll travel to a number of sites across our estate as necessary. You’ll work 36.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with a range of flexible working patterns available ranging between 7am until 6pm, but an element of flexibility is needed to meet business needs.

Due to the nature of the role, you'll be required to participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster (approximately one week in five) for which an additional on-call allowance is paid (approximately £225 per week whilst on call). You’ll also need a full driving licence and be willing to undertake a police proficiency driving evaluation as you’ll be driving police vehicles to various sites in and around Birmingham.

**The rol**e**

No two days are the same for your team - they’ll be undertaking a wide range of tasks from managing travel and meeting room bookings, processing requests for goods and services, catering, and vehicle reservations as well as undertaking health and safety duties and working as part of a team to provide a proactive and reactive facilities management service. You’ll use your previous knowledge and experience of supervisory management to lead, develop and drive the Places team to ensure compliance with Key Performance Indicators and statutory requirements (such as building maintenance and health & safety regulations).

You’ll regularly review and update policies, and draft new policies to ensure the service your team delivers keeps pace with changing working practices and new technology. Above all, you’ll plan and manage service delivery to ensure efficiency and value for money whilst promoting a culture of customer focused service delivery across the team.

**Responsibilities**
- Leading and driving the Places team providing efficient and effective administrative support services across CTPWM estates and facilities, corporate travel, fleet management, health and safety, business continuity, and conference services.
- Developing the team to ensure compliance with Key Performance Indicators and statutory requirements.
- Promoting a culture of customer focussed service delivery across the team and monitoring service performance on a daily basis.
- Delivering changes to the CTU estate as agreed by the Infrastructure Delivery Board, working closely with the Workplace Services Surveyor on all issues that require mechanical, technical and electrical input.
- Overseeing the effective coordination and administration of reactive and planned maintenance and servicing by contractors in accordance with the CTU Mechanical & Electrical contract.
- Managing contract and contractor reviews, highlighting any areas of concern or service improvement.
- Managing the Workplace Services emergency call out process to ensure coverage is maintained on a 24/7 basis.
- Ensuring the CTU Custody facility is maintained and in readiness for use.
- Leading on Health and Safety matters across CTU, including arranging and attending the Health & Safety Board and providing input to the Chair as necessary. Ensuring health and safety news and information is communicated effectively to the wider CTU community.
- Managing the CTU vehicle fleet including ensuring repairs/maintenance is undertaken, arrangements for monitoring usage is completed, and preparing financial forecasts for new vehicle replacements.
- Management of Business Continuity Planning for CTPWM, ensuring that plans are maintained and accurate and that a testing mechanism is in place and monitored.
- Managing the corporate travel service ensuring value for money and compliance with travel policies.
- Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, processes and audit controls.
