We have an exciting career opportunity available within the UKHO for a **Training Officer**, where you could use your experience AND skills in a totally new settingOur Training Academy

Our Training Academy deliver high quality training face to face in the UK and to our international community online. We are looking for a Training Officer to join our team. We can provide full training and support to develop your training skills, however because this role will require knowledge of geospatial/hydrographic data (specifically S-57), you might be just the person we have been looking for.

If you have a keen eye for detail, are passionate about imparting knowledge and learning to others and have skills in Geospatial data capture, modelling and manipulation we would love to hear from you.

**Hybrid Working Expectations**

The team are flexible with where they work, some people are in office more frequently and others work mainly at home. As an International Trainer your time working at HQ will be dependent on your training delivery commitments throughout the year.

**Job description**:
The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is a world leading centre for hydrography, specialising in marine geospatial data to support safe, secure, and thriving oceans.

The Training Officer will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of cartographic training, working with the wider International Training Team and International Training Academy Officer to plan and evaluate effective programmes of study in line with emerging global training trends and capacity building requests for our international delegates.

Alongside a flexible working pattern, including working from home you will deliver training as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) at key points during the internationally recognised Category B GeoMAC programme to delegates in the UK. As an SME you will also deliver short courses online, within your area of expertise alongside the development of new courses as an ongoing project piece, adding depth to the existing team.

**Responsibilities**
- As our Training Officer you can expect the following responsibilities:

- Work with the International Training Academy Officer to translate requests for training into relevant meaningful training. **Particularly in the fields of S-57 and the CARIS toolset.**:

- Contribute to the strategic plans of both the UKHO and the immediate team, leading to successful outcomes.
- Plan effective schedules of work in line with the Academy Officers requests.
- Work with the wider International Training Officer team to effectively communicate own workflows and initiate requests for support, acting as the single point of contact for training within your remit.
- Be responsible for coordinating and contributing (where appropriate) to the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of training programmes for international students with training delivered at the UKHO and through digital learning.
- Be adaptive to working across various global time zones (when delivering online in the UK).
- Deliver and support online cartographic training when required within area of expertise.

You may be expected to organise and participate in weekend & weekday social activities with international delegations.
- As an important aspect of this role involves regular spoken interaction with members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential to be successful for the post.
