An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our admin team working in the Gastroenterology Department on 18.75 hours per week. We are a friendly department looking for an organised, efficient person who is approachable and can communicate effectively.

The role encompasses working within the hospital setting whilst providing effective administrative support to our Gastroenterology secretaries and team within a multi-disciplinary team.

Attention to detail is paramount within this role. Flexibility is essential to ensure that the team all works together at times of increased pressure. You will also be required to cover for the medical secretaries during times of annual leave and sickness.

This post will suit somebody with exceptional organisational skills and administrative experience.

The Administrator will be required to provide efficient and effective support to the medical secretaries and clinical teams, including cross-cover for the medical secretaries within the business unit to support clinical teams in times of absence.

You will be responsible for reading endoscopy reports, sending copies to the referring teams, ensuring patients have next steps in place, validating a PTL, sorting of post, filing and other general administrative duties including answering the phones and booking appointments where necessary.

The post will be based in the Gastroenterology Department. The post holder will work with a variety of clinical, medical and administrative teams within the Trust, and will be responsible for providing high level, comprehensive administrative support for one or more clinicians and their teams within the Gastroenterology department. Also responsible for ensuring that the Trust’s elective access policy is adhered to and that the Trust’s EPR system accurately reflects patient data and RTT information

The role will range from handling GP and patient queries for clinics, navigating e-Referral Service, making appointments using the various trust systems, answering telephone calls from patients or GPs wishing to make or change appointments or making general enquiries.

Working as part of a team, including clinical staff, the post holder is expected to deliver a responsible and high quality administration service to patients and other service users. An up-to date working knowledge of clinics, ERS, referral to treatment pathway, cancer pathways will be needed to enable the post holder to support the service and handle queries from internal and external sources, as this is a multi-skilled and multi-functioned role.
