- Head of HR- About the Employer:
Canterbury City Council is a district council providing public services to the residents of Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable and surrounding rural areas.

The council has approximately 500 staff working to deliver approximately 70 different services.

The council offices are in the centre of Canterbury.

Many council staff work virtually or a mixture of in the office and virtually.
- About the Team:
The HR team are currently 7 staff strong. The team provide HR services to both Canterbury City Council and Canenco (an environmental services company wholly owned by the council).

The apprentice will join our HR Officer team (currently 2 staff) where they will learn about all the administrative processes and corresponding policies and legislation that are required for the employment of staff.

Being part of the larger HR team, the apprentice will also have exposure to and be able to watch and see a variety of HR specialist activities being planned and delivered.

**About the Role (Brief Overview)**:

- An exciting opportunity has become available to join our team within HR. You will provide an administrative service for all aspects of the ‘employee lifecycle’ including, recruitment advertising, employee checks, variations to contracts of employment and advice on terms and conditions of employment to both managers and employees.**And Day to Day?. You will be Responsible for**:

- To carry out all administrative processing and transactional work relating to the ‘employee life cycle’ from recruitment to post-employment
- Processing of personal and sensitive employee information in a legally compliant manner using electronic systems
- Maintain data accuracy within the HR systems
- Produce reports based on employee data to meet the customer’s needs
- Provide where needed, facts and information to resolve general employment enquiries; for example; queries about recruitment, pay, terms and conditions of employment, annual leave and policies and procedures
- To assist the HR Officers on a daily basis working with them to ensure that work is prioritised to meet their needs
- Assist other members of the HR team to support project or case work
- Work with colleagues to constantly improve the employment experience for staff through sharing

**Qualifications**:

- Good standard of English and Maths Level 2 (GCSE grade 4-9 or equivalent) (Essential)
