**Location**: Gloucester

**Salary**: £20,283 to £21,628 based on experience

**Hours**: 22.5 (Part-Time) or 37.5 (Full-Time)

**Length of the contract**: 3 months

Grafton Recruitment are now seeking to appoint Switchboard Operators to our Public Sector client based in Gloucester. The Switchboard Operators will operate the central communication service and associated systems, as well as ensure a 24 hours service isprovided in a courteous and friendly manner.

**Duties of the Switchboard Operator**
- To operate switchboard consoles with an efficient, courteous and friendly manner whilst answering calls professionally within an agreed timescale.
- To operate the Emergency Service, ensuring the correct emergency team code is used in an immediate response to fires, security alerts and both medical and psychiatric emergencies relating to one of three hospitals covered.
- To monitor several alarm panels and systems highlighting medical gasses, pathology alarms, intruder alarms, ward alarms, and all pinpoint alarms, ensuring appropriate emergency teams are contacted as necessary and all logs and reports are completed.
- To liaise with various departments and use the intranet to ensure that when producing the on-call sheets, the correct member of staff is contacted when required.
- The efficient operation of the paging system for both emergencies and non-emergencies alike, the programming and deprogramming of bleeps for individuals whilst keeping an up-to-date inventory of where bleeps are.
- Working with outside organisations and companies to arrange the collection and transportation of patients, staff, medication and samples.
- To correctly log the location and problems reported by staff members within the organisation to let the estates and engineering teams attend jobs in a timely manner.
- Working with the security team to produce an audit detailing overnight visitors to the hospital.

**Role Criteria**
- Basic IT skills
- Good clear spoken telephone manner.
- English and Maths qualifications.
- Call centre experience.
- Switchboard experience
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment.
- Administration skills.
- Flexible attitude to working.
