**Head of Internal Communications and Engagement**
**Location: UK Flexible (hybrid role working between home and London / Glasgow offices)**
**Fixed Term Contract: up to 14 months (Maternity Cover)**
**Hours per week: 35**
**Salary: Up to £62,000 (plus £3,344 Inner London Weighting, if applicable) per annum**

**Can you provide bold and strategic leadership for our internal communications function, overseeing our organisation-wide communications channels?** At the British Red Cross, we’re looking for an internal communications expert who can advance our team and inspire our staff and volunteers.

**A day in the life of the Head of Internal Communications and Engagement**

In this exciting role you will play a proactive role in telling our organisation’s story and driving our approach to internal communications. You will act as a senior advisor on internal and corporate communications issues. You’ll ensure our communications, channels and content reach, engage and inspire our people.

You will head a high-performing team of internal communications specialists. Their aim is to deliver our organisation-wide communications for our staff and volunteers. They ensure our internal communications approach is insight-led, inclusive and has high levels of reach and engagement.

You’ll collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders throughout the organisation. You’ll provide strategic internal communications advice and guidance. Your expertise will add value to the British Red Cross. You'll make sure our people have the information they need to do their jobs, feel connected and inspired.

**This role might be for you if**
- You have substantial experience of internal communications and how it supports an organisation to achieve its goals.
- You have experience of leading and delivering effective organisation-wide communications strategies and plans around highly topical ‘corporate’ issues. You can manage the delivery of internal events such as in-person conferences and online events in partnership with other functions.
- You have excellent knowledge of internal communication effectiveness evaluation metrics and techniques. With a proven ability to use audience insight when developing internal communications plans and approaches.
- You can demonstrate effective team leadership / management experience and experience of building relationships of conviction. You can work collaboratively and in close partnership with internal stakeholders to deliver joint outcomes.
- You have a strong awareness of how internal communications can integrate with other communications activity such as PR, marketing, policy and advocacy.
- You display strong influencing skills including persuasive speaking and presentation skills and writing skills.
