Radiotherapy Late Effects Navigator
This is a new and exciting 3 year secondment post based within the Oxford University Hospitals Trust Radiotherapy Late Effects Service. Our aim is to ensure patients have safe and seamless access to personalised care, to maximise outcomes from their radiotherapy treatment and to improve their quality of life. Offering support to a diverse range of adult patients treated for any type of cancer from 6 months after treatment completion to more than 40 years after treatment.
The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to the dedicated clinical team developing and delivering care to patients with late onset side effects from their radiotherapy treatment.
The late effects navigator post will play a pivotal role in triaging, recording and tracking patients along their pathway; co-ordinating hospital appointments, investigations and referrals. The post holder will have regular communication with patients and be able to escalate information appropriately. They will be responsible for ensuring questionnaires to assess patient’s symptoms and outcomes are sent, collected and recorded according to a schedule.
The role will also involve wider responsibilities for administration and data management. This will involve collating patient referral data and outcomes, helping to organise meetings and events and developing tools to maximise the value of data from the service and patient level information we collect. The team are keen to develop their social media presence and it would be beneficial if the successful applicant is able to help raise the profile of the team in collaboration with the OUH Communications team.
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.
The Macmillan Radiotherapy Late Effects Navigator will be motivated and curious to help develop this new service. The right applicant will be able to work within a team and independently, having both excellent IT and people skills. They will be supported by both the OUH Radiotherapy Late Effects team and Macmillan to develop this unique role.
Take responsibility for the day-to-day housekeeping of the late effects service, ensuring information sheets and resources for patients are up to date and available and relevant documents are scanned and uploaded into patient record systems including ARIA and EPR.
