The Family Support Coordinator (FSC) is a new role for the CHIPS project in Brixton which aims to increase our work supporting families in Brixton and Lambeth. The post holder will have the exciting opportunity to address some of the serious concerns of parents in this area and add new ideas to the work of CHIPS. The primary responsibility of the FSC is to help start and run the Lambeth Parent and Carer Champion Network (PCCN) which is being led by CHIPS in partnership with Marcus Lipton Community Enterprise and funded by Lambeth Council and the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit. The PCCN aims to bring together a network of Parent/Carer Champions working as a collective to support other parents whose children may be at risk of violence, exploitation, school exclusion and challenging behaviour's. The FSC will also be responsible for identifying issues and needs that are of particular concern to local families and working with the Brixton team to find activities that can meet those needs.

We are open to either one full-time post holder or 2 part-time post holders. The contract is currently until 31st March 2024, but with the possibility of extension dependent on funding.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Management of PCCN
- Recruit parents and carers to become Parent and Carer Champions (PCCs).
- Organise trainings of PCCs in partnership with organisations and practitioners.
- Support PCCs as they support parents and carers in their localities.
- Arrange meetings and events to strengthen the PCCN.
- Networking with other organisations in the area
- Undertaking monitoring activities for the PCCN activities.
- Ensuring financial and safeguarding procedures are followed concerning PCCN activities.

2. Engaging with local families
- Attending local and CHIPS-run events that include families to increase engagement.
- Helping families, carers and young people to access and enjoy the full benefit of the local services available to them.
- Working with local schools, youth offending services, social housing organisations, the local council, community churches and other local charities to be a facilitator between these services and help 'make the system work' for the young people and families.
- Collaborating with local organisations and statutory bodies and advocating for the better support of families, carers and young people in the Brixton area.

3. Development of future activities
- Through engaging with local families and other research, identifying key issues and needs affecting families.
- Propose activities that can meet those needs and will contribute to CHIPS’ strategy to build peace in Brixton.

Contract length: 8 months
Part-time hours: 40 per week

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
