Patient Services Advisor

Duties will include:

- To answer the telephone, incorporating switchboard, in a polite and courteous manner at all times.
- To make appointments, change appointments and arrive patients for all clinicians.
- To inform patients of test results in accordance with the practice protocol.
- To answer any patient’s queries that arise during the day-to-day work of the business.
- To ensure all new patient registrations are completed on receipt from the patient and entered on to the system.
- To ensure online registrations are completed in accordance with the business protocol.
- To retrieve patient medical records when requested and to re-file when necessary.
- To ensure all faxes are distributed to their destination in an efficient manner.
- To scan and code all correspondence for the practice.
- To cover duties for other staff members that may arise due to an absence, sickness, annual leave.
- To act as chaperone for the clinical team (DBS certificate required)
- To book ambulances as required.
- To take requests for home visits and provide details to the supervisor.
- To process choose and book requests as detailed by the Doctors.
- To book appointments and manage queries on the nurses desk.
- To complete the patient notes as detailed by the Doctors.
- To distribute to patients repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice protocol.
- To attend monthly staff meetings and to contribute in concise and professional manner when required.
- To undertake any additional duties given by the Practice Manager from time to time or as and when the business dictates.

**Knowledge and Experience.**
- To have basic customer service skills.
- To have well developed key board skills.
- Previous experience of working in a GP surgery and/or call centre
- EMIS system knowledge.
- To have a basic level of Microsoft office.

**Communication**
- Communicate clearly with patients/carers and relatives about their presenting condition and subsequent appointment with a clinician.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Work collaboratively with all colleagues and outside agencies.
- Awareness of data protection issues.

Pay: From £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
