Our client a very established Membership Charity require a FTC Finance Director to start beginning of Sept ideally, they are an enterprise with 35 employees you will manager a team of 2.
Main purpose and scope of the role
The Finance Director plays a vital role as part of the Executive Team, providing strong leadership to
the entire organisation and working with the Senior Management Team, Staff and Trustees to help
achieve the organisation's strategic objectives. This role will oversee the effective running of the
finances of the business including overseeing the production of financial accounts, budgets,
reforecasts and long term financial strategic plans.
Duties and key responsibilities:
Leadership:
Lead the organisational finance to ensure that we deliver agreed income and expenditure targets year on year in line with our strategy
Provide leadership and line management to the Finance Manager, offering direction, support and guidance while building an effective and motivated team
Present to the Trustees regular and appropriate progress reports towards the achievement of agreed targets
Along with the Chief Executive and other Executive Director form an effective Executive Leadership Team with responsibility for the running and development of the organisation
Provide visible leadership to all staff, inspiring, motivating, developing and managing staff within a culture of continuously improving performance
Financial Management:
Responsible for all financial matters relating to the organisation
Lead, plan and co-ordinate Executive and Board discussions on annual budgets and long-range forecasts and financial plans
Produce and deliver timely accurate financial reports and management information to the Board and Executive Team
Deliver process improvements that ensure cost effectiveness, streamlined systems and a framework for delivering financial targets and success measures
Ensure robust financial systems and processes are in place
Be responsible for all financial controls including PTA membership subscriptions and insurance receipts and oversee organisational insurance policies.
Business Planning & Strategy:
Provide leadership in strategy development and contribute to the overall strategic plan including delivering KPIs and programmes of work
Lead on the implementation of programmes of work and processes that deliver our purpose and values of the strategic plan
Ensure that finance processes, systems and practices are cost-effective and operationally excellent whilst considering our strategy and core values in all decisions.
People Management:
Manage the recruitment and selection process for all direct reports, in conjunction with the CEO
Coordinate and monitor workloads of the Finance Manager including facilitating regular supervisions and ensuring performance expectations are clear to all in the team and are being suitably met
Undertake performance reviews of the Finance Manager in line with our procedures ensuring individual training needs and work requirements are identified and agreed
ensure ongoing development of teams through leading a culture of learning and development
General Responsibilities:
To keep abreast of relevant educational policy and legislation affecting our key audiences
To be flexible within the broad remit of the post
To undertake other duties as reasonably requested by the Trustees and CEO
To be self-servicing
To attend and participate in our performance, development and training programmes
To abide by organisational policies, codes of conduct and practices
To be responsible for the health, safety, welfare of self, other members of staff and visitors
Participating in and, as necessary, assisting with our conferences
To represent the CEO or Executive Leadership Team at meetings, conferences and events as required
