Main Duties and Responsibilities Accurate pricing and input of requisitions for goods, services and maintenance. Source suppliers with assistance / advice from the Operational Purchasing Manager. Work with Trust Stakeholders to ensure complete, accurate and relevant specifications are written for all quotations up to the value of £50,000. Issue and evaluate quotations for goods / services up to the value of £50,000, recommending an award decision to the Operational Purchasing Manager.

To ensure that all contracts and pricing documents are communicated to the Operational Purchasing Manager, and to manage your own suppliers, and others as required, within the catalogue management system (GHX). Problem solving relating to sourcing alternative suppliers for financial / delivery reasons. Assist in meeting the Procurement Departments savings target. Demonstrate excellent communication and Customer Service Skills.

Raise the profile of the Procurement Department and promote the benefits of effective and best procurement practice. Attend meetings with Trust Stakeholders and Suppliers as and when required. Undertake other relevant procurement tasks as and when required. Communications Assist in creating and managing relationships with end users and suppliers to develop product knowledge and other relevant information.

Develop relationships with other Executive organisations within the NHS e.g. Crown Commercial Service (CCS), NHS Supply Chain and surrounding Trusts. Assist in providing support e.g. product information and product expenditure reports as requested.

Co-ordinate and prepare quotation recommendation reports for the procurement of goods and services in accordance with the Trusts Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders with assistance from the Operational Purchasing Manager. Assist in creating a culture which will ensure the delivery of a professional, fit for purpose purchasing and supply service. Responsibility for Patient Care Assist patients / service users / carers / relatives during incidental contacts. Planning and organising To be organised and able to prioritise conflicting workloads.

Ensure records of correspondence regarding quotation projects are fully updated and maintained. Responsibilities for Physical and / or Financial Resources Ensure that best value is sought for the Trust with all transactions. Responsibility for Policy and Service Development and Implementation Assist in delivering the objectives and initiatives as detailed in the Procurement Strategy. To develop own skills, using all available training to ensure a high level of support to the Procurement Department Responsibilities for Human Resources and Leadership Support new or less experienced work colleagues to adapt to the workplace.

Responsibilities for Teaching and Training Contribute to the continuous development and performance of the Procurement Department by participating in development activities and by suggesting areas of Departmental and personal improvement. Responsibilities for data and information resources Develop appropriate evaluation methods to determine best value for money options. Physical Skills and Effort Assist the Materials Management Assistants in putting away deliveries as required, this would involve light physical effort such as the manual handling of roll cages and unpacking of products onto the storeroom shelves.
