Role: Procurement Assistant

Location: Stockport - Hybrid Working

Overview

This position involves managing purchase order processing and ensuring delivery reliability, alongside stock replenishment activities. The role also encompasses handling supplier returns, assisting with inventory management, and supporting the supply chain operations, including various administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Order Management:

Generate routine purchase orders for production inventory, research and development, and miscellaneous needs through the Sharepoint purchase request system, prioritizing quality, cost, and delivery. Ensure delivery reliability by monitoring and expediting order shipments and addressing any supplier-related delivery challenges. Collaborate with the finance team to facilitate customs clearance for incoming orders.

Data Management

Maintain the supplier and component database to uphold data accuracy. Update the supplier database with current contact information, pricing, country of origin, and specifications to ensure real-time data consistency. Assist in stock-taking processes, including preparation and participation in periodic inventory assessments. Oversee the management of supplier-provided goods for subcontract assembly and finishing. Conduct data analysis, including inventory levels, reorder points, and recommendations for process enhancements.

Additional Responsibilities

Handle general administrative tasks related to the purchasing function. Attend meetings in place of the Senior Buyer as necessary. Perform any other duties relevant to the role.

General Duties

Adhere strictly to quality, occupational safety, and environmental regulations. Implement directives from the quality/environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.

Required Skills and Experience:

Previous experience in purchasing and negotiation. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Exceptional attention to detail. Proficient analytical and organizational skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Initiative and the ability to think critically. Confidence and professionalism. Commitment to confidentiality, trust, and integrity. Proficient in PC applications, including MRP software and the MS Office suite.
