About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Assistant Manager to join our Facilities Management Category Team at Royal Mail. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective sourcing strategies and plans for goods and services to deliver first-class value for the business and protect it from risk.

You will work closely with the Senior Procurement Manager and the Procurement Manager to manage internal customers in the business areas serviced by the category, aiding understanding of their business drivers and needs in the context of the company strategy, and recommending how they can be most effectively met.

You will contribute to the development and implementation of strategy for the goods and services category to meet internal customers' needs, provide savings, and manage risk. You will also work collaboratively with other members of the procurement team to make the most effective use of resources available across the procurement functions and ensure the maintenance of accurate and complete electronic records.

About You

To excel in this role, you will possess and be able to evidence the following skills and experience:

  • Background in a supply chain related area (preferably in the FM Category)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Capable of building sourcing strategies and gaining buy-in to their implementation
  • Experience of program & change management
  • Experience in creating innovative solutions relating to supplier spend
  • Good communication skills with demonstrable ability to engage confidently with business customers and suppliers
  • Studying towards the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) or willing to
