**Project Support Officer - (Inside IR35)**
**Contract Term: 12 Months**
**Contracting Authority: Defra**
**Location: Hybrid - occasional visits to London, Leeds, York or Bristol offices / Remote Working**
**Project support role within the Infrastructure Project Office.**
**In the Defra group, we deal with a vast range of issues that profoundly impact on people’s lives. We are responsible for England’s environment, our countryside and rural economy, the food and farming sectors and have lead responsibility for protection from a wide range of natural threats and hazards. We have developed a set of three strategic objectives covering our policy outcomes and corporate objectives. These objectives help us to deliver our ambitious vision to build our green and healthy future and provide a framework for all the important work we carry out.**
**As a Project support officer your main responsibilities will be**
- Manage and control governance activities across the infrastructure projects to enable effective management and decision-making of the infrastructure strand.
- Draft and own terms of reference for boards. Draft reports using standard templates. Single point of contact for reporting.
- Work with the change manager/ PM to provide data for Change Control requests. Maintain change request log Implement knowledge and information process and maintain the lessons learned log.
- Manage potential strand level risk areas, working with risk managers and escalating as appropriate.
- Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties.
- Ensure systems are in place for project teams to enable effective planning and scheduling
**Essential skills**
- Experienced project support officer who has worked in PMO
- Understanding of governance, planning, scheduling in a PMO function
- Coordinating raid logs
- Understanding of frameworks and methodologies
- Proactive approach, strong self starter
- Extensive stakeholder engagement across the team
**Desirable skills**
- APM Project Management Qualification Practitioner
- PRINCE 2 Practitioner
