The Regional NHS England team has a varied role working at all levels of the NHS to support elective recovery and transformation.

This role is to work with the Assistant Director - Theatre productivity programmes to support Systems and Trusts, and will have close working relationship with other regional teams particularly across the Access Team.

There is the opportunity for this role to be hybrid or office based working but does involve site visits across the whole of the Midlands region.

Key activities associated with the Clinical Theatre Programmes Manger are:
Working on defined work programmes as agreed with the Assistant Director - Theatre productivity programmes

Work with the Regional Perioperative Clinical Lead on agreed programmes of work

Providing hands on support to Trust and system colleagues to understand specific challenges within their areas and providing expert advice and guidance, including the use of case studies / best practice where appropriate.

Working with regional teams and clinical leads to identify areas of best practice and how these can be developed to be adopted more widely

Using Model Health System and other data systems available to the regional team to provide regular updates to region and system colleagues on their performance, including highlighting where there are areas of concern that may require more intensive support

Provide direct support to identified challenged systems and providers in understanding their current work processes and opportunities to improve.

Provide regular updates to relevant boards and key stakeholders to ensure progress is meeting the wider Elective Recovery plans, this may include developing new programmes work as required.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The Clinical Theatre Programmes Manager will support the Regional Assistant Director - Theatre Productivity Programmes and the Improvement Perioperative Clinical Lead, working across ICS’s to provide efficient, effective, and well-co-ordinated regional improvement capability and delivery of the Regional Theatre Programme.

Working with key system stakeholders across all regional directorates and externally at system, provider and commissioner level to promote an improvement driven approach to the delivery of recovery and the national theatre programme level initiatives.

Understanding and utilising data for improvement working alongside colleagues in the service improvement team to ensure best use of the resources across the whole theatre pathway i.e. pre op, admission units, scheduling, theatre, day-case units etc

The post holder will take a lead role in supporting the delivery of improvement programmes. These will include:

- Developing patient theatre pathways to support the elective care improvement programmes.
- Influencing real change to overall surgical pathway management
- Developing approaches to support a culture of MDT working, ensuring everyone involved in the theatre pathways are involved.

The post holder will work with digital colleagues on electronic and digital innovations within the theatre pathway settings.

The post holder will support the development of systems to ensure the benefits and outcomes of improvement are measured and evaluated across the region.

The post holder will support the development and management of systems and processes to manage and report on improvement programmes including the management of risks and issues
