You will be required to work within the Fetal Medicine Department, which promotes the Trust’s values, objectives, priorities and high performance standards both individually and as a team. Hence, the Trust’s success is dependent on all staff to play an active role to make sure that the existing good practice is universally embedded within the organisation.

You will work within the Screening and Fetal Medicine Team, deputising for the Screening Coordinator and Senior Fetal Medicine Midwife during their absence, including attending external Public Health England meetings, SaSH screening meetings, teaching on Mandatory Training and updating Healthroster. This post requires a high level of experience and expertise, due to the high volume of referrals it receives and the unpredictable complexities presented to it.

**If successful, some of your duties will include**:
To discuss and refer, if necessary, the findings of the First Trimester Scan and undertake CVS/Amniocentesis counselling as necessary.

To work closely with the Community Midwifery Service in respect to Antenatal screening and also Newborn bloodspot screening currently available.

To receive and interpret the Screening Test results and arrange for re-call of these women where appropriate.

To discuss follow-on screening for any woman falling into the High Chance category, making the necessary arrangements for further investigation.

To work in conjunction with Fetal Medicine to assist women through the CVS/ amniocentesis procedure and discuss after care and notification of results.

Ensure all necessary follow-up plan of care is booked and an appropriate Consultant referral is made.

To work in conjunction with Fetal Medicine to interpret CVS / amniocentesis results, imparting the knowledge to the women involved and arranging follow-up appointments or referral to a Tertiary centre in collaboration with the Specialist Genetic Counsellors, if appropriate.

To have responsibility for acting upon all abnormal pathology results, liaising with appropriate professionals and ensuring the importance of follow-up care/treatment.

In conjunction with Fetal Medicine, co-ordinate the care of women requesting a termination of pregnancy for fetal abnormality

Work alongside Research Midwife in Fetal Medicine unit

Act as the Deputy for the named person for anyone requesting further information in relation to Antenatal & Newborn Screening and Fetal Medicine.

Organise multi-professional study days in conjunction with all relevant parties to enhance the awareness of screening and Fetal Medicine issues.

Have specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience.

Maintain and develop current knowledge and expertise, so as to take responsibility for assessment of care needs. To continue your development, implementation and evaluation of care without supervision.
