**How you'll make a difference**:
***

Community Learning Programme works with our learners to develop new approaches to developing people’s careers. As a Career Progression Coach, you will be responsible for helping people who are currently out of work and those in-work to take the next step. Each successful participant will write their own action plan, complete it, and progress their career, all thanks to your support.

You will be working as part of the Skills Team, who will ensure you have everything you need to succeed in your new role.

Your primary base will be in Yate but you will be out and about across South Gloucestershire for most of the week.

**What will you be doing?**
- You will work closely with established partners to promote Community Learning and generate referrals to the programme.
- You will be the participants’ main point of contact, gaining their trust and developing a deep understanding of their needs.
- It will be your responsibility to help participants visualise their ideal career pathways, identifying barriers and opportunities and guide them through an agreed action plan.
- You will mentor and coach individuals to build confidence, increase motivation and encourage positive behaviour change to fulfil participants’ true potential.
- You will analyse the suitability of existing available support and identify any gaps in provision.
- You will deliver your project targets to contribute to the overall achievement against the required outcomes.

**What we need from you**:
***

You will have the necessary skills and drive to want to help people progress in work and in life, making a real difference to people in our community.
- You will hold an NVQ4 in Information Advice and Guidance qualification or equivalent qualification or have equivalent relevant experience in dealing with advice and guidance.
- You will have operational and caseload experience within advice and guidance and/or experience of working with a diverse range of people with the ability to develop trusting relationships.
- You will have the ability to manage your own workload and to support participants to develop portfolios of achievement.
- You will have excellent communications skills, including the ability to motivate, be assertive and negotiate effectively to offer clear, consistent responses with people on low income who may have complex barriers to progression in work.
- You will have experience of working towards targets, monitoring progression outcomes, and taking remedial action.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
