**Job overview**:
We are seeking a Band 4 Research Assistant Practitioner to join our national-award nominated Research Department. We work nationally and internationally to set up and deliver research studies across Norfolk and Suffolk.

The post-holder will support the Department’s Research Nurses in the day-to-day running of NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) research projects in the area of mental health and dementia studies.

The post is available on a secondment/fixed-term contract until 31st March 2025.

**Main duties of the job**:
The post-holder will support the Department’s Research Nurses to undertake delegated tasks to ensure that research participants’ recruitment procedures, treatments, assessments, follow-ups and data collections are delivered according to the approved research protocols.

This post offers the opportunity to develop clinical and research skills, and to be part of a growing research community. Continuous professional development is seen as a priority and the post-holder will be working within an extended team for support.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:

- To promote studies to clinical teams within the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Trust (NSFT) and to non-NHS partners.
- To attend public events and mental health and dementia carer groups to talk about research opportunities.
- To contact people who have signed up to hearing more about research opportunities via our REACH database.
- To support the Research Nurses to identify suitable participants for studies.
- To arrange appointments to see participants either at home, in clinic or remotely.
- To take informed consent and carry out study related procedures where appropriate to the role.
- To carry out treatments, assessments and follow-ups as necessary in accordance with research protocols including physiological (e.g., blood samples) and psychological measurements.
- To undertake study specific training as required.
- To assist with the creation and maintenance of study specific site files.
- To use electronic patient/participant files, study specific databases and on-line data entry systems.
- To work at all times according to Good Clinical Practice, Research Governance and Trust guidelines.
- To attend team meetings and study-specific meetings to provide updates about study progress and any recruitment challenges.
- To maintain a working knowledge of relevant mental health practice.
- To cover duties of other research staff where appropriate to role when required.
