We are seeking a compassionate and competent practitioner, ideally with experience in both anaesthetic and surgical skills within the Emergency and Obstetric theatre setting. You will be motivated, a great team player and be confident in your abilities to manage and lead a cohesive team. Personal development is encouraged and supported with training opportunities, Mandatory training and Appraisals.

The Emergency Theatres at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital provide a highly caring and dynamic environment for patients requiring urgent and emergency intervention from a large range of surgical specialities including; General, Urology/Gynae, Vascular, Paediatrics, Plastics, Thoracics, Shared Airway, ENT, Maxillofacial, and Obstetrics. As a Deputy Team Leader you will be required to lead and manage the Emergency and Obstetric theatres on a 24/7 basis, providing excellent supervision, organisation and co-ordination of the staff and theatres.

You will be responsible for supporting the Team Leader in providing leadership and effective management and co-ordination of patient activity, staffing and utilisation throughout the patient’s operative pathway, in order to promote a patient centred approach to high quality health care whilst upholding and influencing professional and Trust values.

You will also support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

In addition to the Emergency Service, this opportunity will also require the post holder to support the provision of service for elective obstetric operating as well as emergency obstetric patients.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To exercise leadership by personal example, fostering good interpersonal relationships and encouraging high staff morale.
- Work closely with own team, Clinical leader and Matron to promote good working relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Able to interpret changes in patient physical signs and take appropriate action. Cardiac and Respiratory arrest and resuscitation of patients.
- Ensure that the care of all patients is assessed, planned, implemented, evaluated, and appropriately documented.
- Deliver a high quality service for all patients within sphere of responsibility

- Co-ordinate and communicate the placement of appropriate personnel/skills across the department and other areas in the Trust, including in the event of untoward incidents e.g. MAJAX.
- Able to interpret changes in patient physical signs and take appropriate action. Cardiac and Respiratory arrest and resuscitation of patients.
- Responsible for assembling specialised medical equipment ready for use on patients e.g. compartment syndrome monitoring.
- Initiate and participate in quality initiatives with the aim of improving patient care, promote evidence based practice and implement action plans as necessary
- Provide the relevant clinical learning experiences in an approved environment, in liaison with the Theatre Training Department and School of Nursing and Midwifery.
- The post holder will support the Clinical leaders in the provision of relevant clinical learning
