As a deputy team leader you will be required to lead and manage the theatres on a daily basis, providing excellent supervision, organisation and co-ordination of the staff and theatres.


The post-holder is responsible for supporting the Team Leader in providing leadership and effective management and co-ordination of patient activity, staffing and utilisation throughout the patient's operative pathway, in order to promote a patient centred approach to high quality health care whilst upholding and influencing professional and Trust values.

This is an exciting opportunity with the Plastic, Pain, ENT and Maxillofacial Team and as the Clinical Specialist you will be responsible for;

  • Supporting the Clinical Leader in providing expert Clinical practice in the Plastic, Pain, ENT and Maxillofacial Service
  • Management of the Daily operating demand
  • Assist with Implementation/ coordination of the development programmes for Qualified staff, preceptors, support staff recruitment, skills improvement, retention
  • Support with Staff Health and Well Being, Sickness management, under the guidance of the Clinical leader
  • Involvement in Perfect Ward Audits, C4C, QAA audits/ Risk Management and Datix investigations
  • Taking an active role in Appraisals and Mandatory Training

Leadership Responsibilities

  • To exercise leadership by personal example, fostering good interpersonal relationships and encouraging high staff morale
  • Coordinate and communicate the placement of appropriate personnel/skills across the department and other areas in the Trust, including in the event of untoward incidents e.g. MAJAX.
  • Undertake designated responsibilities in the event of a 'MAJAX' in accordance with trust guidelines
  • Participate in the management of resources in the clinical area within the agreed budget.
  • Implement Trust and directorate evidence based policies and guidelines
Clinical Responsibilities

  • Able to interpret changes in patient physical signs and take appropriate action. Cardiac and Respiratory arrest and resuscitation of patients.
  • Responsible for assembling specialised medical equipment ready for use on patients e.g. compartment syndrome monitoring.
  • Ensure that the care of all patients is assessed, planned, implemented, evaluated, and appropriately documented.
  • Deliver a high quality service for all patients within sphere of responsibility
  • Act as role model and be a credible practitioner within the clinical area
