The Freedom to Speak Up Guardian (FTSUG) will act as the expert and professional resource for trust colleagues on all aspects of practice relating to the Freedom to Speak Up agenda and associated cultural change in line with our ICB and ICS Values; to encourage embedding of best practice in enabling and supporting trust staff to raise concerns where they see evidence of risk, wrongdoing and unsafe practice.

The ICB’s Freedom to Speak Up Guardian (FTSUG) role is central to supporting the ICB’s priorities of supporting our staff, commissioning services, and providing excellent care to our communities.

This is an exciting development opportunity for someone from either a clinical or non-clinical background to be a visible point of contact across the ICB with a role in promoting and championing open and transparent culture. This role will be collaborating with leads across the ICB and with ICS partner organisations within our system, regionally and nationally.

As the FTSUG, you will receive formal training and support from NHS England in undertaking the role, be a part of a FTSUG community of practice across the ICS, as well as be our representative on national and regional networks.

**Working across the ICS, you will also**:

- be a point of contact for individuals or groups who require advice on raising concerns, supporting them to consider available options and signposting them to sources of support as appropriate.
- take on casework as appropriate to the role.
- will lead and continue to develop our group of FTSU Champions and open culture within the ICB.
- represent the ICB in ICS, regional and national networks, and forums to develop and promote best practice in speaking up within the ICB and across the ICS.
- Assist in the development of a system wide FTSUG community of practice.
- Align our ICB FTSU model within our ICS Culture & Inclusion Strategy, Framework and Delivery Plan
- provide regular reports to the ICB Board and collaborate closely with senior leaders and a wide range of teams across the ICB to ensure that staff are supported to speak up and barriers to speaking up are identified and addressed.
- be line managed by the ICS/ICB Culture & Inclusion Director which holds the remits of EDI, Inclusive Culture, Staff Experience and FTSU, as well as EDI related patient/citizen experience and alignment to health inequalities
- link in with the Executive Sponsor and Non-Exec EDI Lead
