We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Data Protection to undertake this business critical role. You’ll be responsible for strategic risk-based direction and management of Checkatrade’s data protection accountability framework. You’ll advise on compliance with all data protection legislation and regulations. You’ll join a fast paced commercial membership organisation requiring quick, risk-based decision making. **Where do you fit in?**

You’ll lead a small team of data experts working closely with the Group DPO, inhouse legal, procurement, information security and many other teams. You’ll be fully responsible for our data protection strategy, processes, policies and continuous improvement whilst ensuring day to day queries are being catered for. You’ll provide expert counsel and support to our Senior Leadership team and the wider business on risk ensuring we are fully compliant with all relevant legislations. These include but are not limited to: UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, incoming legislation, Group standards, and best practice guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Our inhouse Data Protection department is three years into its journey and we’ve come a long way. **What do you need to succeed?**
- Degree qualified with an IAPP CIPP/E and IAPP CIPM qualifications or equivalent
- Extensive knowledge of the UK General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act 2018, Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.
- Extensive experience in a similar Head of Data Protection role in a highly commercial and fast based environment.
- Experience of incident response handling and risk management.
- You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills including ability to influence, support, coach and lead teams and stakeholders.
