**Job overview**:
The post holder will assist in the achievement of cancer targets by capturing patient waiting time information, monitoring cancer waiting times by proactively identifying risks and take corrective actions by informing General Managers of potential delays to ensure the cancer targets are not breached.

To develop working relationships with the relevant General Managers and Operational Managers to ensure escalation of non-compliant pathways occur and actions are put in place to address delays.

To support and attend the tumour site patient tracking meetings through the preparation of patient tracking lists, capturing of actions and following up progress via agreed escalation protocols.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Collaboratively working with clinical teams both within and outside of the trust to ensure appropriate management of patient information and co-ordination of patient pathways. Work with trust staff to ensure all cancer patients have all necessary appointments, investigations and procedures arranged in a timely manner and record details of patients coming via all referral routes.

The post holder will assist in the achievement of cancer targets by capturing patient waiting time information, monitoring cancer waiting times and take corrective actions to ensure the cancer targets are not breached.

To be fully conversant with the Trust cancer data management system - Somerset cancer register so that patient waiting times data is entered in real time.

To support and attend the tumour site patient tracking meetings through the preparation of patient tracking lists, capturing of actions and following up progress via agreed escalation protocols.

Some flexibility with respect to both hospital site and tumour site working will be required to ensure that all service needs are met.

To attend and minute the weekly MDT meetings including typing live during the meeting in order to ensure accurate recording of recommendations.

Distribute updated patient outcome information in a timely manner, and maintenance of all attendance registers for MDT meetings.

Work flexibly to support the team and provide cover as and when necessary, ensuring service continuity across Cancer Services.

**Essential**:

- Able to demonstrate good general standard of education
- Literate and Numerate
- English Language and Maths pass GCSE
- NVQ 3 Admin or A Level education or equivalent experience

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Relevant experience to demonstrate understandings of the key functions of similar administrative role in health care.
- Substantial previous NHS experience/or relevant background
- Experience of learning to use clinical systems
- Knowledge of clinical terminology
- Demonstrate a good understanding of patient confidentiality
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office
- Working knowledge of Patient Administration Systems
