**What you’ll be doing**

Working within the strategic marketing team, you’ll provide insights to the business to enable timely and effective decisions that support operational effectiveness and the achievement of business objectives. You’ll be responsible for research delivery,including identifying requirements for quantitative and qualitative research; to manage research projects working with stakeholders across the business; to communicate and report on research findings to the organization and to develop relationships with marketresearch agencies and other professional engineering institutions.

The strategic marketing team support the business across a number of key areas including publishing and research solutions, creating value propositions for our customer groups to engage and attract new customers and members, providing market insight intonew sectors and markets that could be attractive for the organisation, supporting the professional development of engineers and promoting the output of our policy and thought leadership work.

You’ll bring your strong quantitative and qualitative research expertise across a range of methodologies - online surveys, focus groups, depth interviews - plus experience of managing research agencies. You’ll be able to use your ability to analyse researchdata and interpret findings to provide actionable insights and communicate them through reports and presentations, working with a number of key stakeholders across the business.

**A little more about the role**
- Working with business stakeholders to identify requirements for qualitative and quantitative research and other market intelligence to inform the organisation of challenges and growth opportunities.
- Challenge and influence stakeholders on various matters including the purpose of research projects, alignment to strategic objectives and alternative solutions (where appropriate).
- Manage and deliver internal research projects.
- Develop longer-term relationships with research agencies and sister PEI’s to build an understanding of the IET’s environment.
- Project manage the delivery of external research projects
- Produce summary reports and presentations of results from individual research projects (or across multiple projects and sources) to inform business decision making at all levels across the business.
- Manage communications with Trustees, Main Boards and the IET Executive regarding the key research projects, the design of those research projects owned by the Main Boards, and the results of Governance and Main Board effectiveness surveys.
- To comply with GDPR legislation and act responsibly on matters of data disclosure/privacy both internally and with third parties.
- To comply with the Market Research Code of Conduct.

- Professional, experienced market researcher with excellent organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrable experience in customer/market research, including management of external agencies
- Numerate, with experience of data analysis
- Ability to interpret and articulate research findings and communicate through reports and presentations
- Experience with online survey tools (eg Questback)
- Experience with specialist IT tools (SPSS)
- Experience of statistical analysis methods
