Chiltern Railways operates commuter/regional rail passenger services from its Central London terminus at London Marylebone along the M40 corridor to destinations in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, as well as long-distance services to the West Midlands.

What we'd like you to do

A member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Business Strategy will manage the client relationship with the Department for Transport and develop the team, ensuring National Rail Contract (NRC) compliance, reporting and delivery of the Performance Based Fee. The role will oversee the delivery of the Chiltern Vision, ensuring the business is aligned, prioritised and focused on delivering against the strategy, and this is continuously reviewed in light of changes to the operating environment. The role will lead the engagement in strategic network development to promote the sustainable growth of Chiltern.

Key Accountabilities- Lead the annual business planning process developing inclusive planning cycles which align with multiple stakeholder needs and drive accountability and ownership within the business- Lead, develop and support the Client relationship team to ensure that the contractual relationship with the Department for Transport is being managed effectively and collaboratively.- Oversee the delivery of the Chiltern Vision, ensuring the business is aligned, prioritised and focused on delivering against the strategy, and this is continuously reviewed in light of changes to the operating environment.- Lead the engagement in network developments, reviewing and influencing opportunities, risks and impact of industry initiatives and identifying growth opportunities- Own the Key Account Management plan, ensuring continuous improvement and setting and delivery of annual targets- Ensure compliance to the National Rail Contract (NRC) and maximise opportunities to achieve the Performance Based Fee and demonstrate delivery of the Business Plan Commitments and obligations- Drive delivery of the Performance Based Fee through the development of strong internal relationships and processes- Provide commercial and contractual support to Directors and peers in relation to the National Rail Contract (NRC)- Develop organisational capacity and coach colleagues and peers, demonstrating best practice and commercial acumen

What experience we are looking for- Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)- Experience in a management role in rail or comparable sector- Client and stakeholder relationship management, ideally with the DfT- Experience of the regulatory framework in the Rail Industry, including a sound understanding of the delivery of National Rail Contracts- Management, development and motivation of a team- Strategic planning / network development within a role that demonstrates a thorough understanding of railway operating principles- Skills and competencies:
