Job description

King’s Business School (KBS) has experienced a rapid and exciting period of growth in its first five years as a faculty. This is particularly true of the School’s Careers function and the placements provision. Our Year in Industry programme is offered for all four of King’s Business School undergraduate programmes.

The successful applicant will be part of a wider Placements provision that operates cross-faculty, and this individual will collaborate with Business School colleagues including academics and Career team members as well as Placement colleagues across the College. The role suits a highly organised individual who is an excellent communicator, is adaptable, personable and who wants to work in a student orientated role and comfortable with external/employer interaction and communication.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract

This is a full
- or part-time post - requiring a minimum of 80% (0.8 FTE) commitment

Key responsibilities
- To implement a bespoke and innovative plan of engagement and events focused on promoting and preparing students for Placement.
- To oversee the triaging of incoming enquires, ensuring prompt and high-quality responses through effective prioritisation and provide a high level of customer service when working with stakeholders both on and off of campus.
- To maintain a consistently high-level duty of care to students throughout their placement journey.
- To maintain and update a variety of virtual platforms, such as webpages, social media & blogs, SharePoint and our virtual learning environment hub, as well as support creation of student communications, newsletters and engaging digital content.
- To ensure relevant quality assurance, confidentiality, professional body and legal requirements are met by the placement provision and constituent placements, making recommendations for efficiencies where appropriate.
- To work closely with the Faculty Marketing team, the Student Experience Manager for the Faculty, the Department staff and the Student Careers Engagement team within King’s Careers & Employability, to promote placement opportunities, and placements related events and information to students using a wide variety of channels.
- To work closely with academic and professional services colleagues across the Faculty and Departments, to facilitate knowledge and best practice sharing, as well as reporting Placements numbers and success to key stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate student placement records and undertake data management activities as appropriate, using a variety of platforms including customer relationship management systems, Excel and student records systems.
- To actively consult with other colleagues and make recommendations and independent, autonomous decisions as required.
- To work with and undertake tasks as defined by the Head of Work-based Learning and respective Faculty line managers, collaborating with other colleagues contributing to the development and delivery of King’s Education Strategy and by extension the university employability plan and Faculty ambitions

Qualifications & Training

1. Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in graduate recruitment, HR, or work-based learning. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training.

2. Knowledge and understanding of the higher education landscape, including the impact of national policy issues on work-based learning, placements and student employability.

3. Ability to use innovation and creativity to manage projects, whilst coping simultaneously with multiple tasks, programmes and competing demands for attention, ensuring tasks are completed complete in a timely and effective manner.

4. Previous experience of engaging and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders to develop services and grow and broaden opportunities, such as identifying and executing opportunities to upsell wider activities and gain buy-in.

5. Previous experience of communicating complex information clearly in a multi-faceted environment with a range of stakeholders, such as employers, students and colleagues at various levels of seniority.

6. Ability to conduct research and accurate analysis of data, reporting on trends and findings to assist formulation of placements provision and translate into operational delivery and to develop efficient and effective processes to facilitate the continuous growth and improvement of the placements scheme.
