**Nature & Scope**

To support the delivery of the Active Cheshire CONNECTED strategy, the role will involve building relationships with a wide range of senior planning, regeneration, transport, community and public sector leaders to advocate Active Design, promote available tools, secure funds to deliver and evaluate demonstrator projects and use results to influence change.

To provide leadership and advocacy in relation to the role of the built environment in increasing physical activity levels in the region. To provide leadership and advocacy in relation to the role of active transport (walking & cycling) in reducing carbon emissions and improving physical and mental wellbeing, and to develop and lead strategic partnerships to increase active transport across the region.

To provide leadership and advocacy in relation to the development and use of green and blue spaces for physical activity and play.

To lead and delivery projects linked to educational, commercial and public sector investment which will drive the integration of active travel across the life course (Start well, Live well, Age well).

**Accountabilities (not exhaustive)**
- Translation of the Sport England Active Environments Framework & Uniting the Movement strategy into workable solution for Cheshire & Warrington
- Identify and act upon the opportunities presented by the climate change agenda in relation to increasing physical activity levels.
- Lead the physical activity system’s work around developing walking and cycling as viable forms of transport utilised by a large proportion of the local population.
- Generate opportunities to share ideas, information and experiences and to facilitate greater and richer partnership working to encourage increased walking and increased cycling in Cheshire and Warrington.
- Working closely with the CYP Health & Wellbeing Strategic Lead and the Adult Health & Wellbeing Strategic Lead, develop the role of the Charity in supporting access to, and use of, blue/green spaces, and the development of blue/green infrastructure in the urban landscape, for health and wellbeing purposes.
- Working with local data and insight teams, commission research and intelligence gathering to build an in-depth understanding of the local landscape around infrastructure, policy and environment topics for the benefit of the physical activity system and our partners and stakeholders.
- Share knowledge and intelligence in the sphere of infrastructure and the environment to the wider Charity as appropriate.
- To attend training and development opportunities relevant to the post and/or self-development objectives.
- Undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the organisation

**Relationships**

You will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the public, private and voluntary sectors to allow residents of Cheshire and Warrington to work, rest and play in an active environment. Partnerships with National Governing Bodies including, but not limited to, British Cycling, British Rowing and England Athletics will be vital to success.

Taking the key principles of Active Design, you’ll embrace collaboration and foster symbiotic relationships. Specific relationship accountability: Place based active design leads, Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Partnerships, Active Partnerships and national networks, Integrated Care System/Partnership, GPs, Commissioners, Local Authorities and Health agencies, Police, Voluntary sector, Politicians and Civic leaders.

**Impact**

You will provide strategic leadership across the Active Cheshire team and beyond to allow people to lead longer, happier, healthier lives by increasing participation in physical activity. You will influence and advocate for physical activity being a key strategic driver in the (re)development of community infrastructure, maximising the potential of open and green space, and making the built environment an active one. You will positively influence local strategy and policy in line with local and national best practice.
