Lead Buyer

This specialist manufacturer in the packaging industry are looking to attract into their team a purchasing professional who will develop suppliers as they continue to expand operations.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, as Lead Buyer typical responsibilities will be:
- To evaluate suppliers and services, negotiating contract and favourable terms and conditions.
- To develop spend analysis to support Group Purchasing activity.
- Lead negotiations of contracts for a spend of £5m.
- Understand current and future market trends.
- Manage supplier relationships to maximise potential.
- Ensure and maintain high standards of communication.
- Lead supplier improvement initiatives.

The successful Purchasing Manager will:
- Have gained their experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Be a strong communicator.
- Have excellent negotiation skills.
- Have used MRP or similar.
- Be ideally CIPS qualified or willing to learn.
