Purchasing Assistant

Eldon Tool and Engineering Ltd is a stimulating and challenging place to work and this is an excellent new opportunity to work in a small but busy team at our Sheffield site, providing maternity cover for 12 months.
The purchasing assistant will keep on top of a company's supply and Inventory needs. Seeks out high-quality goods and negotiates reasonable prices on orders. Communicates with team members.
**Location**:Sheffield
**Hours**:Fixed term contract (Maternity Cover) 37 hours per week - Working 8.00am - 16.30pm Mon - Thurs with a 13.00pm finish on a Friday.
**The Role**:
- To stay familiar with the company's supply and inventory needs.
- Makes supply purchase orders.
- Coordinates with people in different company locations to see if a better price is
available somewhere else or if suppliers in a certain area are not living up to
expectations
- Maintain Department KPI
- Communicate and gain approval for purchasing contracts with new vendors or on new
supplies
- Continuously compare, shop and negotiate to make sure the company gets the best
possible prices on needed supplies
- To oversee supply chain management
- Be able to Communicate with suppliers and to make sure supplies get where they need
to be when they need to be, even when a deadline is tight
- Maintain a network of professional contacts in order to discover new opportunities for
good deals on orders
- Forecast demand for certain products and makes Production orders accordingly
- Checks inventory, track how inventory is used, and adjusts purchasing habits in accord
with apparent trends
- Keep a well-organised collection of contracts for easy reference when needed
- Attend daily meetings to stay up to date on the company's production planning
- Attend conferences to meet potential new suppliers and glean insight from other
professionals in the purchasing field
