Main Function
- To provide engagement and communications expertise to support the presentation, delivery, evaluation and promotion of Ignite I Cynnau with the aim of clarifying its role within Cardiff’s overall approach to research culture and maximising its overall impact.

**Key Duties**
- To lead the development of an engagement strategy working closely with the Programme lead, Academic Partners and other co-investigators to develop understanding of key stakeholders and barriers to culture change.
- Work with colleagues to map existing engagement and collaborative activity, identify and scope new opportunities for partnership working, providing professional advice and guidance, and developing strategies for specific engagement opportunities.
- Systematically engage with internal and external stakeholder networks regarding the programme including but not limited to schools and other research bodies at Cardiff; research community interest groups at Cardiff; HEFCW-funded universities; Wellcome funded research culture projects; Good Practice Exchange; UKRN; and external advisory group members.
- To drive communications with key stakeholder groups through a range of media, such as face-to-face presentations, the University webpages, blogging and social media, working with Ignite I Cynnau colleagues as well as the University’s central communications team.
- Establish working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate communication links, especially within the University’s Research Infrastructure and culture.
- Provide management information data and data analysis, with a focus on the Ignite I Cynnau experience and engagement data. Analyse the data sets to establish trends and create forecasts. Present the analysis in a variety of formats and engage in decision making processes based on the data.
- Work with colleagues to gather feedback, develop action plans, and improve engagement.
- Develop high level and detailed knowledge of the Ignite I Cynnau Programme, Research Culture, Funders, and the Sector.
- Lead on the provision of relevant administrative support in the development and delivery of action plans arising out of the engagement.

- Maintain personal and professional knowledge through continuous professional development, keeping up to date with employment law and University HR policies and procedures.
- Play an active part in the wider activities of the HR Department, as required from time to time and contribute to the overall success of the Department, and the University.
- Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties.
- Abide by University policies on Health and Safety and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
- Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.

**Essential Criteria**

**Qualifications and Education**
- Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.

**Knowledge and Experience**
- Experience of developing and delivering stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Substantial experience of communicating complex information orally and in writing to diverse audiences using a range of mediums and styles.
- Experience of working within higher education with a sound understanding of the inter-relationships of the core academic and support functions.
- Experience of supporting and delivering complex or cross organisational projects.
- Highly effective at balancing multiple objectives and priorities and ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure.

**Customer Service, Communication and Team Working**
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and collegiate working relationships with colleagues across and external to the University.
- Excellent written communication skills including the ability to adapt style as needed for the particular audience together with excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people, and a proven ability to work and interact well within a team.

**Planning, Analysis and Problem Solving**
- Proven experience of identifying and analysing insight and intelligence and using this to inform strategic advice, including in relation to risk management.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to motivate cross organisational teams to deliver outcomes on time and to a high standard.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Demonstrable knowledge of key internal and external contexts relating to the research culture agenda within which Ignite I Cynnau needs to be delivered and the University’s approach to transforming its research culture.
- Experience of processes for allocating small grants.
- An interest in organisational learning and development
