Clinical Coder in General Practice

We have a friendly and supportive team of more than 30 staff, with GP’s, Clinical Pharmacist, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Mental Health counsellors and our range of administrative staff.
We are seeking 1 experienced Clinical Coder to provide excellent customer service and project a professional image for the Surgery. To provide accurate, efficient and punctual medical administration support to Partners, GPs, Registrars and Practice Nurses on a permanent basis.
This job will be based at Boston Enterprise Centre, Enterprise Way, Wyberton Fen, Boston PE21 7TW
**Main duties of the job**
To be responsible for the SNOMED coding of relevant information into patients electronic medical records on the System one clinical system. Code relevant QOF / IIF / Enhanced Service data to support effective patient recall and to optimise income by ensuring the completeness of medical records. Furthermore, to summarise the records, both paper and electronic, of all new patients.
**Job responsibilities**
**Primary Responsibilities**:
1. Open all incoming post and distribute to all concerned as per the protocol and the preparation of incoming clinical post for scanning.
2. Prepare, scan all confidential letters/forms/reports etc.
3. Scan clinical correspondence and workflow to the appropriate clinician.
5. Ensure Out-of-Hours call sheets are processed every morning
6. Input relevant information from all incoming mail, including hospital letters and discharge notes. Be aware of QOF, IIF, Enhanced Services and Safeguarding codes, ensuring information is captured to highlight to clinicians, add diary dates and code repeat tests e.g. bloods.
7. Workflow letters back to clinicians where it is not clear that all actions have been completed.
9. Summarise the notes of any patients requesting On Line Access to their medical records, before access is granted.
10. Update existing patients computer record in a systematic process, adjusting diary dates if outstanding and linking drugs.
11. Summarise the medical records of all new patients registering with the practice. File letters and hand-written notes in date order. Enter all relevant details into the correct areas on the patients computer record. Be aware of QOF, IIF and Enhanced Services and ensure a patients medication matches their problems.
12. Attend to tasks sent to the Team.
13. Assist with the preparation of the patient records to be sent for scanning and/or offsite.

Pay: £11.44 per hour
