**Salary**: NJC Point 22 £33,828 to 26 £37,462 rising incrementally every 12 months

A small, specialist team, our HR Department offer the following services:

- Business partnering services to curriculum and support colleagues
- Payroll and Pensions
- Induction, Training, CPD and Appraisals
- Recruitment

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Purpose**: To be responsible for delivering outstanding and effective human resources services, including advice to our line managers. To act as a business partner and HR Specialist to the College.

**Reports to**:Director of Human Resources

**HR Duties**:

- To manage the College’s recruitment process from end-to-end, alongside another HR Officer, ensuring that the recruitment process complies with statutory requirements and best practice, and supporting departments throughout the recruitment process. This is particularly important (although not exhaustively) with regards to:

- o Right of work in the UK
- o Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks
- o Legal compliance under the Safer Recruitment and Safeguarding legislations
- To ensure that all documentation relating to appointment and the on-going contractual relationship with staff is accurate and issued in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the new staff induction runs smoothly, is fit for purpose and continually improved.
- To manage the College’s payroll operations by ensuring that new starters, leavers and contractual changes are adequately reflected in our Payroll System (EPM), managing overtime payments, expenses claims and salary sacrifice schemes whilst liaising with staff, line managers and/or the Finance Department to resolve any queries.
- Administer the College’s pension schemes for teaching and support staff including by managing the enrolment and opting-out operations for current and new staff, and resolving pension queries from current and past employees.
- Assist in employee engagement activities, gathering feedback in a variety of ways in order to improve our staff experience.
- Assist with statutory and internal reporting for example Key Performance Indices, Gender Pay Gap, E&D and Salary information.
- Assisting the Director of HR with projects.
- To ensure that leavers, appointments and/or contractual changes to contracts are accurately reflected in a timely manner in Payroll systems so that salaries are paid accurately and not overpaid.
- To ensure staff are adequately advised and supported and that policy, procedures and the law is applied consistently.
- To ensure that the HR computerised and manual filing systems in place are maintained for areas of responsibility.
- To ensure the up-to-date maintenance of staff confidential files, complying with policies and the Data Protection Act.
- To advise line managers and other employees on employment law and the College’s employment policies and procedures, adopting a business partnering style approach.
- To maintain up-to-date records of absence whether planned or unplanned, and, at the direction of the HR Director, to monitor staff absence levels, assist line management with return to work interviews and make referrals to Occupational Health where necessary.
- To assist in the administration of the Support Staff Standards Payment (SSSP) scheme.
- To be a member of interview panels where required to ensure recruitment panels are legislatively compliant including for, but not limited to, safeguarding, equality and diversity.
