**Where and when do we need you?**

Athelstan Place is a specialist, independent residential care home for young people  aged 16-25 years with mental health and associated learning needs. We are looking for a Recovery Support Worker to deliver effective rehabilitation and recovery to service users whose needs cannot be met by less intensive mainstream, mental health and learning disability services. Our focus is on the treatment and care of service users with severe and complex mental health problems who are high risk and often distressed, and who are, or would otherwise be, high demand on in-patient and community services.

As a Recovery Support Worker, you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like:

- **Keeping vulnerable young people safe** - Analysing and therapeutically managing behaviour that challenges resulting from complex needs and formulate plans to reduce the likelihood of future similar events.
- **Playing your PART **:

- Supporting colleagues in their reflective practice to develop an understanding of the underlying issues to challenging behaviour.
- **Being your Best Self **:

- Demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development of self and others.
- **Promoting Independence** -  To support the delivery of rehabilitative care to service users so that they successfully move onto more independent living.
- **Ensuring their voices are heard ** - To observe, assess and monitor service users health development and emotional well-being, by promoting high standards of care, hygiene and safety for all service users in the home.
- **Communication is Key** - Using your initiative in communicating with families, carers, commissioners and any other agencies involved, to ensure that they are informed of progress with care plans and any other significant information
- **Dotting the I’s and Crossing the T’s **:

- Ensuring daily tasks are completed and are consistent with the smooth running of the service, such as handover, case recording and updating service user care plans, risk assessments, ensuring all information is recorded appropriately and accurate

The rota pattern for this role is based on a weekly hours of 37.5 hours average per week based on a 3 week rolling rota including weekdays, evenings, sleep-ins and 1 weekend worked in 3. Rotas are given around 6 weeks in advance.

- Previous experience of working with young people and/or adults with mental health/social care/educational needs
- To hold or be prepared to work towards the level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
